OILS AIN'T OILS!

When we were back at Rainbow Beach, driving along in the car, Mark was being attacked by midgies, he looked over to me & said how come they are not biting you???
I told him how i use skin so soft oil daily on my dry legs......Thats it he says they slide off you & cant get a grip! Sounded logical to me & it worked!
My mind starts ticking & the $$$$$$$ signs start flashing!
We could market this stuff !!!!
Buggar the Bushmans & the Tropical Areoguard, simple ideas are the best!!
Wow we could be millionaires, we just need to get our own oil factory happening!
We will be keeping this our secret till we figure out how to do that!!!!
When we pulled into our latest caravan park, a sign on the wall reads
Get Your Skin So Soft Midgie Repellent Here!
What!!!!!
I said to the office girl
Far out i thought we invented that!
Funny how it was Avons oil & not just plain old Johnsons baby oil??
Now the secret is out, & it is back to the Drawing board!!!

Goodbye Causeway Lake - Yeppoon........Hello Bucasia - Mackay!

Time to move on, this time it is off to Mackay.....The sugar capitol of Australia & thats a fact there are fields & fields of ready to harevest pretty pale mauve,
feather duster topped sugar cane everywhere!!!
(wow that's a mouth full!)
What a view that would be from the air like a patchwork quilt of colour!

We arrived at our Caravan Park, about 15 kms out of town lovely little park & once again, we are Blessed!!! Our front yard is, The Pacific Ocean at the begining of The Whitsunday Islands!!! Day 2 & we went for our morning walk, along the beach we started chatting & introduced ourselves to this guy who goes by the name of Bill Old Bill.......He was telling us that he has been coming to this spot throughout winter from Victoria for years! A couple of years ago though, big developers came in with their you beaut plans for high rises & cafes & so on, & bought the caravan park for a whopping 6 million dollars this place is fairly small, probably only about 5 acres! He started to tell us that when they came in & bought it a lot of the regulars who had been coming here for years migrated back down to The Causeway Lake! How bizzare as we just left there!
Later in the day we headed off for a drive around this beautiful area! Mark is on the hunt for work & therefore always has his eye out for any building action going on! When he spots some, over he goes with, buisness card in hand & enquires, this one bloke he was chatting too, said that some builders in Mackay are earning, wait for this>>>>> I need a drum role! One Hundred & Forty Dollars Per Hour!!!! 4 days on & 4 days off! Reason being the mines have sucked out many of the tradies!
YAHOO! ....... You go Husband! I say!!!
If you undercut them @ $80.00 hour then everyone will be Happy! I could stay home, not that i dont like working or anything!
You will be ok Hon, i will pack your lunch, kiss & wave you off like every good wife would! Hahaha!...........No more frying fish for Shazza!!

The holiday is over for the moment & it's time for some work!...........If you are lucky enough to find a job that is!

Funny in small towns, its all word of the mouth!
Our second day in town & we headed to Mitre 10 looking for a bolt that had fallen out of the hitch thing on the caravan, trust us, this bolt is rare & extremely hard to find!
Anyway we started magging to Doug who works at Mitre 10, the conversation diverted away from the bolt & onto us looking for some part time work, anyway we left him with our phone number.
Back in the truck a few minutes later & Marks phone rang, i answered, the voice on the other end says...... Hello Sharon it is Doug from Mitre 10, i have some names for Mark, of builders looking for help!
Great thanks Doug, Mark & I are thinking......Wow Doug is a bit handy to know, the next day he rang with more!
Oh Boy Husband..... You are going to be very busy!!

Here i was thinking, i would land the first job!

When we arrived in town we went to the local supermarket & stocked up on supplies,  i said to mark, wouldn't it be funny if there was a Rockmans in here, as i have worked in Rockmans back home & loved it....Well blow me down there is a Rockmans in the plaza, as we went nearer to the shop i spotted a  position vacant sign in the window.......Oh my goodness, wow how good is this i am thinking!!! I went in & enquired, it sounded fantastic until, she said the position is for 5 hours per week!
How ridiculous is that @ $15 p/h!! It  would make me $75  a week rich!
How would that support my shopping fixes?????
                                             Well it just wouldn't!!!!
So on day 2, I decided to enquire with the local nursing home, how lucky for me they were looking for people, & i actually fluked an interview with them then & there,  i seriously thought i had the job in the bag! I felt confident that the interview went well & they wanted me!
NOT!
I didn't hear back from them!
Well i feel, they are not very nice!

I then thought i could place an ad in the local paper
Mrs Sheen I will Make Your House Sparkle!
Surely someone would want a house cleaner around here!
Then it dawned on me, how do i get their house, hop on the bus with my vacum & jiff under arm!!

So off to the sailing club for lunch, so i could eat & drown my sorrows away!.....I enquired there do they need staff as i have my RSA & RCG certificate...Yes the lady said just fill  out the application form, wow what a place to work with million dollar views over looking the Pacific Ocean!
Anyway as i started reading the application form it says do you have a RSA certificate for QLD.
Oh No......The NSW one i have is useless in QLD.......WHY???...Drink laws should be the same oz wide what is the difference grog is grog & people are people!!.......That meant i would have to do the course over again!

This is not looking good, especially without a car!!
Here Husband is flooded with work & i was now starting to feel very lost & dejected!!

Never giving up though, after a week & a half of asking every tom dick & harry i saw for work!

I GOT A JOB!!!
Yeeha!!!
Right next door to our caravan park, in the fish & chip shop!!!

Now as work & holidays don't usually go together!
We may not have a great deal of fun stuff to write about for a while!
But then again....Who knows???
Our plan is to make some money now & then on to our next destination to start the holidaying time over again!
Not sure where we are headed though?
Who Knows??

Bye for now!
It's time to go to work!!

P.S We finally got the part for the hitch, after 3 days of searching trailer mobs, caravan mobs & boat mobs everywhere, it was looking like costing us over a hundred dollars to replace this part!!!
Well Mark fluked it in of all places......Good old  Super Cheap Auto & it was Cheap!!!

Strange Sights on Fraser

Mark cutting up the catch!
Now this sight is more rare than it is strange!

It was mating season when we were there & those dingos didn't care where they got it on!

Mark said they don't look like they are having much fun!! Hahahaha!

The Floating Man of Eli Creek!

I knew those bloody things were everywhere!!

The Maheno Wreck
It met with a cyclone on it's way to Japan & ran adrift on Fraser

Where else would you land a plane!

     Road signs on the Beach!

And My Favorite!!

While we were driving on the beach on our way to get to the barge, on our last day on Fraser, we couldn't believe what was slowly coming in to focus as we got closer.
How on earth did that shark get up there & it must of just happened as it was untouched & that dingo was guarding it with its life, that was probably dinner for a month for him & his family!

What a fantastic shot
At the right place at the right time!

More Fraser Tales!

Before we headed off to Fraser to camp, we realised we only have 1 fridge & that would be used for food, what was going to keep the beverages cold?
Now that is a very important thought....We thought!!!
We need an esky! How stupid, we just sold 3 plus a little waeco fridge back home before we left, thinking we would not need them.
The fridge in the car becomes a second fridge when we are in the caravan, but camping well that is a different story!
So we hunted around at camping shops & connivance stores all over Rainbow Beach.
Wow $40 for a crappy flimsy box they call a cool room & 25 for a throw away foam esky.....No Way!
A bucket with ice will suffice!
Over on Fraser & the prices there are just as ridiculous, if not worse $6.00 for a small bottle of tomato sauce, $90 for a box of Crown Lager & Diesel $1.90 per litre!
So the esky was not looking good at this stage!
Day 2 & Mark returned after a morning fishing, not with fish, but even better a Foam Esky!
Someone had left it down on the beach after they had finished with it.
Lined with a garbage bag & wal-ah!...The ice should last a bit longer now!
As we left the island we took it back down & put it where Mark found it, ready for the next lot of unprepared campers!
Now that Husband was a Great Catch!!!
