WHAT WILL BE WILL BE....Or will it?

The guy on the radio keeps telling us that it is 8 weeks till.....
THE BUILD UP!
This
means
Heat & Wet!

It is hot here now 31 degrees every day!
Apparently what we have been told by the locals is.....
The temperature doesn't go up much more than this but
it is the humidity that  is the killer!

The build up count down is on!
Wow!!
Already we have been in Darwin for nearly 2 months
Unbelievable
How time flys, when you are having fun!!!!!
We have done very little sight seeing in this time, apart from
Litchfield National Park & a few other smaller things!
Mark has done more than me though!!
Last week end while i was working he took himself off to......
I am glad he went!!.....I really feel it is a man thing & i was happy @ work!!!

There he is in this big spot light....
Upside down!!

 Bombs in the bunker

Poor Darwin sure has seen its fair
share of disasters!

Last week
We went out to dinner, on what they call up here
Territory Day......Which happens to also be their
Cracker night!
Fancy that they still have cracker night up here!!
I find it strange how they have not stopped it.
Here of all places???
Wow that brings back memories of cracker night as a kid......
With my brother & his mates going around putting bungers in our poor neighbours letter boxes & dad coming home and giving us our own little suit case
full of every variety of fireworks imaginable!
Out in the back yard & off they went!!
Ahhh..... The Good Old Days!!!
They only put them on sale for that day only!
I was working this day & in my lunch break i went for a wander
to have a look at them.
I was going to buy some pretty ones to take back home as a treat for the Grandchildren,
but after i gave it a bit of thought i decided....
Not such a good idea Sharon!

Our next stop is WA & apparently they
stop and search everywhere & everything!
No fruit, vegetables or plants can cross the border!
So i presume that would include fireworks?!!
Oh well our kids will just have to listen to the stories of cracker night!
Unless of course they come up here?
I also have to find a home for my beautiful plant
Casie
which i bought, way back last year in Bucasia.....Hence her name!

????? Any Takers ?????

Anyway back to cracker night & our night out!
We went with our new friends
Gazza & Shazza
to the Sailing Club @ Fannie Bay....(shocking name, but a great place!!!)
From left to right...
Shazza, Gazza, Shazza &..... Oh bum, well, we will just have to call him
Mazza!

What a way to spend an arvo, watching the sun set over the water with lovely company
good food & good wine!....Awhh
This is Heaven!

It was also nice to watch all the families down on the beach setting up & letting off all their crackers....The children & adults loving every second of it!!!

Now!
Mark keeps saying we will be leaving Darwin
before
the build up
builds up too far
 and we get stuck here?!?!
Mmmm???...We'll be seeing about that?
I want to stay now and gain some more experience in the rag trade,
especially as i have only just started @ Target!
I really wanted to get my foot right in their door
as i can then, hopefully go to any Target & Rockmans for that matter anywhere in Australia & get work!
I don't think i want to go back to
Aged Care Nursing....far too heavy & i am getting far too old!!
Even though i did love it....
I feel now though, i am a dedicated shop girl!
And Loving every minute of It!!!

Mark is in a hurry to get out of here, for a couple of reasons, one the wet season &  not be able to get out & 2
he has had the worst working experience so far here, on our whole trip!!
I don't know about
 Build Up
i think it is more like
 Fed Up!!
Poor Husband...I told him to go to Bunnings and become a
Team Member....You would be so good there, as you know everything about every thing in their shop!!!.....Only trouble is the $$$ would be dropping
down about 30 bucks an hour!
Oh well time will tell when we are going ?

Trouble is the radio guy keeps reminding us
of how long before this......reoccurring
 Phenomenon happens!

I said to Mark stop being a sook we should stay here and experience this???
That way we would not have to rush our way to WA!
We could slow down & take our time!

After Western Australia
it is off to
 Tassie....We think???
We will just have to wait & see what the next month or so brings?
Stay or Go??

My fingers & toes are crossed we stay!
Till next time
 ENJOY!!!

UPDATE!!........Staying!

Wow!
What an eventful day last Thursday was....
Firstly mid morning Mark rings to tell me he is on his way home
from work & is going to tell this unorganised, badly run mob
to stick their job!!!

He arrived home & after a cuppa & a bit of a discussion on the matter,
we decided, this may be a good time to leave & head to WA
before the sticky heat of the top end kicks in, plus i only have
weekend work here & as it has been a week since i had an interview with
Target & have not yet heard from them?
So maybe it is time to go!

Well, blow me down!!!
If it doesn't rain it pours, later that arvo, my phone rings & it is
Rockmans asking me if i could work more days as they were unexpectedly short of staffed for the next few weeks....Yes not a problem i reply.
Well, i hung up from them & not one minute later my phone rings again....

Hello Sharon this is Target we would like to tell you you were successful
Can you start next week.......Yep sure can!!!

Well that solved that problem!!
How lucky Mark had not yet officially chucked his job!

The next day he rang lot's of Builders, but there is just no work
happening here @ the moment!
So it looks like he will stick it out with this mob for a
couple more months!

Well today is my first day @ tarje'
This is like sticking a kid in a lolly shop!!
I am in my glory!

Till Next Time

Happy Shopping
&
Enjoy!
